Sentrimax independently repairs Andritz, GEA Westfalia and Bird centrifuges, including the Bird 24×60 decanter and comparable models from all three brands, at its Mansfield, Edmonton and Kitchener facilities. Bird fleets in particular are largely legacy equipment served through reverse-engineered parts. Sentrimax has no dealer or sponsorship relationship with Andritz AG, GEA Group or Bird.

One independent shop, three brands, no manufacturer relationship

Sentrimax Centrifuges is an independent maintenance, repair and overhaul provider founded in 2002, with no dealer agreement, distribution arrangement or sponsorship relationship with Andritz AG, GEA Group or Bird. These three names are grouped on this page because plants running any one of them tend to ask the same question — who else can work on this besides the manufacturer — and the answer is the same independent shop for all three, drawing on the same machine shop, gearbox and controls capability regardless of which of the three nameplates is on the machine. Brand names on this page identify equipment Sentrimax services; they do not indicate any business relationship with the manufacturers.

Le procédé de Sentrimax, en bref

Regardless of which of these three brands arrives, the sequence is the same: inspection and quote, repair, and delivery, following Sentrimax’s ISO 9001:2015 documented process. The inspection stage — a 75-point check by a licensed technician, precision fit measurement, and third-party oil analysis — determines the scope before anything is approved for repair, which matters most on the oldest units in this group where the difference between a routine rebuild and a parts-fabrication-heavy project is not obvious from the outside.

Andritz, GEA Westfalia and Bird models Sentrimax services

Sentrimax has named-model experience with the Bird 24×60 decanter and services Andritz and GEA Westfalia decanter and disc-stack centrifuges by configuration and bowl diameter across its general equipment scope.

Bird’s installed base runs older on average than the Andritz and GEA Westfalia fleets Sentrimax sees, which changes the parts conversation more than it changes the mechanical work. A worn Bird scroll and a worn GEA Westfalia scroll are inspected and repaired the same way; where they differ is how likely a replacement part is to still be sitting in a current parts catalog. The inspection standard and balancing target do not change by brand or age — only the path to getting a compliant part into the machine does.

Why Bird needs the reverse-engineering conversation and the others do not, as much

Bird centrifuges in the field today are predominantly legacy units, and OEM parts support for older Bird configurations has narrowed the way it has for other decades-old brands. For a Bird 24×60 or a comparable older Bird model, Sentrimax’s engineering and machine shop — milling, lathe-turning, precision grinding, and designing new or reverse-engineered parts — is frequently the practical path to keeping the machine running, because an OEM part search is not a reliable maintenance plan on equipment this old.

Andritz and GEA Westfalia fleets skew newer on average, so the independent-shop argument there is less about parts scarcity and more about not depending on a single supplier for a machine that is core to the process. The same machine shop capability applies either way — it is simply exercised more heavily, and more urgently, on an aging Bird unit.

Grouping three brands does not mean one generic answer

The inspection and repair scope for an Andritz, a GEA Westfalia and a Bird unit are each assessed against that machine’s own fits and tolerances. Grouping the brands on one page reflects that the same independent shop, and the same process, serves all three — not that the machines are treated as interchangeable.

What happens to any of these units once it arrives

  1. Inspection et devis. The centrifuge is documented and ID-tagged, an oil sample is drawn for third-party analysis, the rotating assembly is disassembled and steam-cleaned, and a licensed technician completes a 75-point inspection with precision fit measurements. A full inspection report, scope of work, required parts, photos, pricing and estimated delivery time follow.
  2. Réparation. Parts are manufactured or sourced to meet or exceed OEM specifications — reverse-engineered where an original number no longer resolves, as is common on Bird equipment. Welding and machining bring components to tolerance, the unit is balanced to ISO G 0.5, reassembled, inspected again, and run on the test stand.
  3. Livraison. The rebuilt unit ships through a dedicated broker network with a full invoice covering parts, labor and analysis, plus tracking.

Every job on these three brands includes

  • Fit evaluation against original or OEM tolerances
  • Rapport d'inspection détaillé et annoté
  • Équilibrage dynamique, jusqu'à ISO G 0,5
  • Test complet avec rapport de performance

When to stop running the machine

Rising vibration, unusual gearbox noise, or visible casing damage are reasons to pull any of these units for inspection immediately, and the margin for waiting is smaller on an older Bird machine than on a newer Andritz or GEA Westfalia unit, simply because the base castings have already absorbed decades of service.

Controls, gearboxes and rentals

All three brands commonly run planetary reduction gearboxes and PLC-controlled drive systems. Sentrimax’s gearbox capability covers two- and three-stage planetary gearboxes, CYCLO gearboxes and hydraulic backdrives, and its controls capability covers PLC upgrades and programming, HMI design and programming, VFD troubleshooting and replacement, brake system integration, and ETL-certified control panel and automation support — work that can be scoped alongside the mechanical rebuild. A rental centrifuge from Sentrimax’s fleet can also cover the process gap while any of these units is out for repair.

Où se déroule le travail et ce que Sentrimax couvre d'autre

Sentrimax operates three facilities — Mansfield, Texas; Edmonton, Alberta; and Kitchener, Ontario — and serves customers across North America from those three shops, with field service technicians and remote services available. The pièces de centrifugeuse program covers OEM-spec and reverse-engineered components across all three of these brands, and the réparation de centrifugeuse décanteuse page details the inspection-to-test-run process. See the full brand list at marques et modèles de centrifugeuses pris en charge.

Industries where these three brands turn up

Andritz and GEA Westfalia decanters and disc-stack units are common across municipal water and wastewater treatment, food and beverage processing, and industrial dewatering, reflecting how broadly both manufacturers’ product lines have been sold. Bird’s installed base skews toward the same municipal and industrial applications, simply with more years of service behind each unit on average. Sentrimax’s inspection and repair standard does not change across industries or brands; what changes is the wear pattern a given duty cycle leaves behind, which the inspection documents rather than assumes from the application alone.

When reverse engineering is the only realistic option

On an older Bird unit, there is sometimes no supplier to call at all — not a long lead time, but no active source for a given part number. In that situation, Sentrimax’s engineering and machine shop measures the worn original directly, produces a drawing, and manufactures a replacement designed to meet or exceed the original specification. This is standard practice on Bird equipment and is applied to Andritz and GEA Westfalia units as needed, particularly on older installations where a specific component has aged out of production even though the broader model line has not.

Note sur la reconstruction par rapport au remplacement

Sentrimax’s full overhaul, equipment and part sales capability means a replacement or refurbished unit is a genuine alternative to a rebuild when an inspection finds the base casting compromised, most relevant on the oldest Bird units in a fleet. The inspection report is what should drive that decision, not the machine’s age by itself.

Assistance sur site et à distance

Older Bird installations especially are sometimes built into a plant in a way that makes shipping impractical. Sentrimax’s field service technicians and remote services cover diagnostic work, on-site balancing checks and select repair scopes for Andritz, GEA Westfalia and Bird equipment without requiring the full unit to travel, with the initial inspection determining whether the work can stay on site.

Foire aux questions

Is a Bird 24×60 too old to be worth rebuilding?

Age alone does not decide that. The 75-point inspection checks whether the casting and shaft are sound and whether worn components can be reverse-engineered. Many Bird units well past their original service life are still good candidates for a full rebuild.

Does Sentrimax carry genuine Andritz or GEA Westfalia parts?

Sentrimax is an independent shop and does not source through the manufacturers' parts networks. Its machine shop manufactures parts designed to meet or exceed OEM specifications for all three brands covered on this page.

Why are Andritz, GEA Westfalia and Bird grouped on one page?

Plants running any of these three brands tend to face the same question: who besides the manufacturer can service this. Sentrimax answers all three the same way, with the same independent process, even though each brand's parts situation differs.

What bowl sizes does Sentrimax cover for these three brands?

Sentrimax's general range is 8 inch to 43 inch bowl diameter, spanning decanter and disc-stack configurations across Andritz, GEA Westfalia and Bird equipment.

Can Sentrimax handle the gearbox on these machines, not just the bowl?

Yes. Sentrimax repairs the planetary and CYCLO gearboxes and hydraulic backdrives commonly fitted to these brands, so a decanter with drivetrain issues does not need a separate vendor.
